yay! this is my second crochet project! it’s the ninth doctor from ‘doctor who’. he was surprisingly quick to finish and i learned an awful lot in making him. my favorite part is his wee ears.

a bit of surreal writing came to me a while back. it evoked some interesting imagery and what you see here is the strange, wordy piece that came out of that inspiration. i was saddened to discover that the file would be tremendously huge to upload in any sort of higher resolution, so until i can figure out some kind of viable method for distributing the file on disc, this smaller version will have to suffice. i hope you enjoy it and i’d love to hear any comments on it.

i had the idea for this piece floating around in my head for a couple of years before i finally sat down to put it together. it turned out mostly the way i envisioned, with a few happy accidents along the way. the circular pattern on the lower left is formed from nails hammered into the backing and woven with embroidery thread. that was the initial image that came to me and it looks better than i hoped it would.

the source images, once again, are lost to time on this piece. queen mab came to visit me and stayed around for the better part of a week. she’s a very possessive creature, beware if she ever shows up on your doorstep with a quest for you. i learned so, so much about photoshop while doing this piece.

source image from deviant art, details on my deviant art page. i hadn’t done any kind of visual thing in a few months when i sat down to work on this piece. i had no idea what i was trying to do until i found the particular piece of stock art i used as the base. layer upon layer of digital paint was spread over top, along with a few earthy textures and there we go.
