the melancholy has all but faded at last. focusing now on getting holiday gifts done and making the big software switch at work. must get photos of my finished projects taken and up! it was cloudy over the weekend, so too dark for good photos.
it is freezing (literally) outside. we’re at about twenty degrees […]

this post is probably more for me than for any of you all, but maybe you’ll be interested in some of this stuff even if i don’t think you are.
updated the doodles again. i’m a couple days behind, but then i was expecting that at the beginning. this is about building a daily habit, not […]
me and the planets? we’re cool…
so apparently i’m in touch with what’s going on astrologically:
You are apt to let your life fall out of balance today as you forgo responsibilities in order to immerse yourself in your fantasies. You could find it challenging to ignore your urge to create something unique out of your imagination. Nevertheless, keep up the balancing […]
snow?
could it be? could winter actually be stopping by for a visit?
it’s been quite cold this week, almost winter-like and this morning i woke up to an inch of snow on the ground. it was lovely, just nice to see. supposed to be cold all weekend, too. perhaps global warming hasn’t completely taken hold yet.
the […]

i think i’ve got a decent analogy for how much work it is to create a galaxy as fully realized as i want it to be in order for me to play with it in my stories. quite simply, it is like this:
say i want to take a picture with my digital camera. great, i’ll […]

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
what can i say about this book? it's a lovely memoir of julia child's arrival in paris, her journey learning the language and discovering her life's passion in cooking.
the whole story is special to me, having grown up watching her show on television. mrs. child taught me a great many things about cooking (including the fact that mistakes are okay) and her warm, engaging style comes through in the text. i could hear her warbly voice in my head the entire time i was reading.
