totally forgot to mention that dinner sunday night and lunch today were both tasty.
i made a veggie pot roast last night, although it wasn’t quite as good as usual due to me trying to save a little money and using the wrong kind of veggie burger. still, it was good anyway and i’ve learned […]
and more weekend stuff…
it’s that time of year…
and so my thoughts are a bit random. i know i haven’t posted in a bit, so we’ll do a bit of catch up here.
watched Kinsey over the weekend. really good movie. it’s one of those that you watch and think it’s good, but for some reason sticks with you for a bit after. […]
the director’s cut phenomenon…
i’d like to know what hollywood is thinking. really. does the revenue generated from ticket sales at the theaters not mean as much to them as dvd sales later on?
that’s the only reason i can think of that the studios would go to all the trouble of making a film, and then severely editing it, […]
grr. blockbuster…
i wanted to rent ‘velvet goldmine’ the other day. i remember holding a copy of it in my hands maybe six months ago at our local blockbuster. now it appears they don’t have it anymore. that’s the thing that pisses me off about renting movies and i understand why netflix is doing so well.
it’s […]
ranty, ranty, ranty…
i got all pinko liberal pissed off today.
okay, i didn’t really get completely pissed off. stunned is probably a more apt description at the time. pissed came later.
i had jury duty today. i live in a fairly ‘liberal’ north nj town. smack in the middle of blue state country, dontcha know. i figured, okay, […]

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
what can i say about this book? it's a lovely memoir of julia child's arrival in paris, her journey learning the language and discovering her life's passion in cooking.
the whole story is special to me, having grown up watching her show on television. mrs. child taught me a great many things about cooking (including the fact that mistakes are okay) and her warm, engaging style comes through in the text. i could hear her warbly voice in my head the entire time i was reading.
