as the countdown to nano continues, i get more excited and more scared. i know it sounds silly, because i don’t really doubt that i’ve got enough story to get this thing done on time, but i feel a bit like i’m stepping into the unknown. it’s the good kind of scared, i suppose.
the […]
just some randomness…
weekend update…
man, i worked my butt of this weekend.
went to the parentals’ and helped go through some of gram’s stuff. i’m now the proud owner of my great-grandmother’s wedding band, dated with the inscription WJ to SC 1.10.1900
when i got home, i headed into the basement and did a bunch of cleaning, going through a […]
with a little bit of lapsang souchong…
yesterday was… difficult. kind of like emotional bumpercars. sleep, happiness and myself have not been on good terms this week. can’t truly pinpoint the reason as i have managed to do quite a bit of writing, including finishing my most recent batch of drabbles. i don’t really have anything to complain about, so why […]
feeling radical in cotton…
weird day.
i did a hiring interview this morning, offered the woman a job this afternoon and she called me back with her acceptance.
if only every decision went so smoothly.
of course those events left me feeling a little weird. i’m so not a ‘real’ grown-up. i’ve got action figures and a batgirl poster in my […]
curled up with machines…
just warning you all ahead of time that this is going to be a long, rambly, mostly utilitarian post. it’s more journal than informative and i may even be able to write the whole thing with no mention of activism of any kind nor requests for you to sign any sort of petition. heh.
first, last […]

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
what can i say about this book? it's a lovely memoir of julia child's arrival in paris, her journey learning the language and discovering her life's passion in cooking.
the whole story is special to me, having grown up watching her show on television. mrs. child taught me a great many things about cooking (including the fact that mistakes are okay) and her warm, engaging style comes through in the text. i could hear her warbly voice in my head the entire time i was reading.
