projects, projects, projects

i often have ideas for little art projects (and sometimes big art projects), research subjects, cooking experiments, and other undertakings pop into my head. to keep myself from going crazy, i’m starting to organize them on a variety of blogs and mini-sites. my hope is that in doing so i’ll be able to remind myself of what i’m currently working on and decide what i want to work on next. what you see here is just a fragment of the ideas that i have planned.

in addition to being a place to organize all of this stuff, these project pages also give me a place to play. i can try different layout designs, different blog engines and generally just have fun with them. i hope what you find here will inspire you to start your own projects. turn off the tv, give your mind something to play with and you’ll be surprised what you can discover.

the wallpaper project

the wallpaper project is a place for me to experiment and just have fun. once in a while, i post a new wallpaper for you to download and enjoy. most of them are 1024×768, but now that i have a new, huge monitor, i’m beginning to experiment with larger sizes as well.

the icon project

and because i’m sometimes inspired, but short on time, i created the icon project. these creations tend to be quite a bit more frequent. they’re sized 100×100 pixels because i started doing them for livejournal, but also because i like the size.

wee inquiries

the wee inquiries project was born of a desire to learn more about the world around me. however, it’s not about the big questions, the ones that seem so insurmountable and overwhelming. no, instead i focus on the little questions. things like ‘what is the origin of those awesome greek coffee cups?’ or ‘where did the fork come from?’ you know, the minutiae of life.

the crusades

this project is just getting off the ground. i’ve had a growing interest in the crusades (and specifically the military orders of the knights of st. john) for about two years now. i’ve decided to start chronicling my efforts and gathering various links together.

writing a novel

as an amateur writer, i know it’s tough to dive into the sea of words without a few tools to help along the way. in the lead up to nanowrimo 2007, i gathered together a coursebook of sorts to help with novel planning. while i didn’t actually use much of what i gathered, it’s still a great resource and i plan on using it in the future.

drawing & sketching

this is the year i learn to draw properly. i’ve got a wealth of things i want to do that involve being able to draw and i grew tired of not being able to portray things as i see them. to keep myself honest, i’ve started this gallery and plan on updating it on a regular basis.

30 days of doodles

in an effort to get myself into a daily drawing habit, i started this project. while the official project will run for thirty days, i hope that it will establish a routine that will continue indefinitely.

in my garden

each year i learn a little more about the herbs in my little garden and each year i get better at taking care of them. i’m hoping this year that i’ll really learn what i’m doing and that the plants will thrive rather than just survive.
