scratch that, reverse it…

i’ll be going to the doc’s tomorrow, not end of the week. feeling garbagey is not good.

forgot to note yesterday’s NYC extravaganza of art, so here it is in a nutshell:

drive into the city. had honest-to-god new york bagels.

went to MoMA. saw the Van Gogh exhibit again. *sigh* it was just as good (and slightly less crowded) this time around. makes me want to draw. he declared himself an artist in 1880. how does one do that exactly? and why is it acceptable for him to draw things slightly out of proportion, or with an awkward perspective? i’m still trying to understand his work, though some pieces just sing and need no further pondering. and blue, he uses so much gorgeous, rich blue.

grabbed the subway and trucked down to Chelsea. went to CoSM, saw the amazing Alex Grey paintings therein. shit. this is what art is supposed to be. once again, makes me want to draw, so why am i not drawing? must ponder. i had the honor of speaking with the artist a few years ago. he’s such a nice, cool, peaceful guy. i’ve got one of his art books on my shelf, as well as his ‘Mission of Art’. i’m thinking the latter will be surfacing to the top of the reading pile.

much walking in the freezing air both to and from CoSM. got ill on the way home. napped. had traditional saturday night dinner and settled in for WALL-E, feeling sicker all the time. fell asleep 3/4 through. came home and won’t go into the gory details, but was quite ill.

better this morning. huzzah.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
