i’ve become a wanderin’ soul…

this whole new outlook on life in the post-starting-tai-chi world has left me a little neglectful of my net life. i’ve not updated this site in far too long.

life is quiet for me personally, though a bit of chaos still manages to creep in here and there. poor curly has had a run of sickness and injuries that i’ve not witnessed before. first the dog bite, then stomach virus, followed by a fall down the stairs that broke her tailbone and finally a fall at work that earned her a bloody cut on her head. each incident has involved the emergency room except the last which involved the ambulance. poor thing. i hope she starts finding some true healing soon. she deserves some peace!

bear and i had an awesome time trading music last saturday. just awesome. we’ve got tastes in music that are just different enough that we are always able to introduce each other to new stuff, but often end up in the same music ‘zone’ so that the differences compliment each other. weird, wonderful, beautiful music was shared, as well as some long delayed talking about the deeper stuff that we’ve both been going through. we both realized how sad it was that we live in the same house and it had been so long since we had one of those days.

saw hellboy 2 and loved it. i think it was even better than the first one. there is a particular pleasure that comes from a sequel that takes advantage of its position. with no need to do all the setup work that’s involved in the first installment, it’s nice when the movie makers tell a good, solid story that makes the whole world deeper instead of just rehashing old plot. and the monsters were so, so shiny.

i’ve been in a designy mood lately. playlist covers and wallpaper ideas keep slowly presenting themselves. i hope it continues as it’s loads of fun and i think i’m starting to find the next stage of development in my voice. i’m stretching quite a bit as i take in inspiration. the stuff i’m working on has hints of my old voice, but definitely doesn’t look like anything i used to do. i think learning adobe illustrator is helping that as well, as i’m looking at ‘flat’ artwork in a new way, starting to truly appreciate what it can do. the beauty of the complexly illustrated pattern is the key.

and tai chi keeps going well. i’m looking into classes for the fall as i did feel myself getting a bit complacent, yet knowing that there is plenty more to learn if i find the right teacher. i’ve started using a new playlist for my daily practice the last couple days and that has made a huge difference. i’ve stopped paying attention to the videos and i’m able to better concentrate on my movements. there are holes in my technique like swiss cheese.

okay. enough rambling for now. i’ll get back on track here as i’ve plenty more to talk about. things like zines and on-demand magazine printing and learning french and list making and a new way of thinking and living now that my head is clear.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
