half-day happiness…

if i have any luck at all, i’ll be out of here around 1pm today. *fingers crossed*

i’m looking forward to a nice weekend, the weather is supposed to be pretty good (even if it will get a bit warm near the end) and i don’t have any plans other than seeing indiana jones and going to my uncle’s big birthday party on sunday evening.

that all also means that i only have a four day work week next week and then i’m off the week after. huzzah for vacation time, i really can’t wait.

things have been quiet the last couple of days and i seem to have fallen off the posting wagon once more. i’ll call the experiment a semi-success as i at least got back into the habit of posting with some regularity.

so, my thoughts of the day involve laying out some of my projects and getting them out of my head. i have so many ideas and things i want to do that it makes it hard to keep track of it all. i’d like to develop some method of writing the ideas down in some kind of notebook, each with their own page and what i need to do in order to work on them. that way i would know they wouldn’t get forgotten, but i wouldn’t have to carry them in my head.

i know it sounds like i’m over thinking this, but seriously, i want to stay focused on my two secret projects plus my drawings and all the other little stray thoughts just keep bogging my brain down with distractions. it’s the burden of having my hands in too many pots at once.

i think i’m going to work on a method to get this stuff down. perhaps a format that has the title of the project, what i want it to look like, the stuff i need to do or buy to work on it and any other notes about it. sounds simple enough. while i like the idea of making some kind of form i could fill in the blanks on, i don’t think that will work. i like the notebook paper idea, putting it into one binder so i can flip through things easily and add and subtract at will. there are a couple places online that have similar set ups, but that’s just not portable enough for me, and i do admit that i’m still seduced by the scratch of pen on paper.

okay, i’ll stop boring you with my brainstorming and just go figure out how i want to do it. i’ll let you know how it all works out when i’m done.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
