oh joy…

okay, let’s get the crappy stuff out of the way first, shall we?

we had kitty vet drama on saturday evening when chess started stumbling around the house, listing to the left and missing his jumps. fortunately, the emergency vet was not overly expensive this time as it turned out he’s simply got a double ear infection. poor thing, but at least it was nothing more serious. (this is the guy that needs gall bladder surgery, so we feared the worst)

because of all the garden work and cleaning over the weekend, i put my back in jeopardy and pulled it out this morning while drying off after my shower. i think the combination of heat and stress on the muscles explains why, when i do pull it, it’s usually after a shower. one trip to the chiropractor later and i’m in my back brace and feeling better. i’m just glad i got all the cleaning stuff done first, so it’s not too big a deal. also, the pain’s not too bad and i expect to be feeling better by the end of the week.

lastly, i missed a post yesterday and have run into the mid-month sandbar of doom on the sketch project. it seems i’m only good for two-week challenges, rather than month-longs. i just run out of steam and get lazy or forgetful about mid-way. i’m not stopping yet, but i need to find something to keep me going with the sketches. laziness is the biggest obstacle in my life.

okay, now that all of that is out of the way, i can discuss ‘prince caspian’. i have not read the book and only saw the trailer one or two times, so i had very little knowledge of the story itself. i had heard mixed reviews, so my expectations were a little lower than they normally would have been. i could not have been more wrong.

i loved it. wow. it was so much darker than the first one, such deep character stuff. i’ll do my best to be non-spoilery here, just in case, but i’ll say that if you haven’t seen it yet, ignore the critics and go see it. if you even just liked the first one, you’ll love this one. wow. great battles, loved the trees and i was teary-eyed through large swathes of it.

okay, must go move the bones about for a bit. i think i’ve got some writing in me somewhere today and work has been quiet thus far. may it continue.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
