well, there it is. the haul from midtown comics. today was free comic book day and in comic book stores across the country, retailers were giving away books for free. most stores give away one or two, some go all out and give you five or ten. midtown comics in nyc is a whole ‘nother ball game.

that stack you see at the top of the post is the buttload that midtown gives away, assuming you get there early enough. last year we got there a bit late and, while we got a very generous stack of books, a few key stories we were looking to read were already gone.

this year we made no such mistake and thus came home happy with that stack.

we also made the traditional stop at our regular store, the place where we’ve got our subscriptions. dave miraculously was going toe-to-toe with midtown and giving away all of the books as well, plus a few other fun things. this was quite the saving grace as dear curly was unable to attend (she was stuck working) and midtown was only giving one bag per person.

so, a few other things to record as they’re flitting through my mind:

got to take some pictures of the studio once i get it cleaned up. i’ve made some changes and now it’s more awesome than ever. though i do still need to replace my dead printer, so there is a hole on my shelf where a piece of equipment should be.

my new employee stopped by yesterday to pick up paperwork (did i mention i finally hired someone?) and she literally gasped with geeky joy when she saw my alex ross batgirl poster. i knew there was a good reason i hired this girl.

i’m embarking on a third secret project. i promise i’ll be more forthcoming with details on this one soon, i just want to wait until i get some momentum going first.

radiohead is on vh1 on midnight. they’re known by some in my house as the most over-rated band in the world and by others as one of the most awesomest. i’ll let the fact that i’m taping the show tonight tell you my personal feelings on the subject.

i don’t know if i’ll be able to keep these lengthy posts up for the whole month, but that’s okay. i’m just feeling particularly inspired and chatty today, so i’ll take it as it comes.
