a quick rundown/catchup post…

the secret projects continue to move along. i am pleased.

the clouds on thursday were amazing. the wind was crazy and it just kept blowing these amazing fronts through. i wanted to stop about twelve different times in the middle of the highway and take pictures. every time i crested a hill, the view just took my breath away.

i’m currently having troubles upgrading my hacker mac to the newest version of ubuntu. i’ve tried a couple different methods and am currently waiting on a cd to arrive. i’m not ready to admit defeat.

finished reading ‘persepolis’ by marjane sartrapi and ‘free for all’ by don borchert. both were great. i’m starting ‘halting state’ by charles stross in the next day or so. nebula award nominated and all that, so i’m expecting a good, heady read.

i’m starting to feel itchy for a vacation, or at least a couple extra days off. me and work are getting along okay, but nothing beats the down time.

otherwise, things are good. creativity is up, my muse definitely likes this deadline-free way of working. i’m getting more done now than i did when i was trying to give myself a time limit. that says a lot about how i need to work. i’m also beginning to accept the wisdom of not sharing my work until a project is completed, or at least in the fine-tuning stages. somehow it feels more satisfying and worthwhile. i guess it just means that i talk far too much about a project, given the opportunity, and by the time i’m done talking i’ve worn out the good energy i had for working on it to begin with. i love it when things start making sense!

i’ve got to get some updates done to this site. i’ve done some sketching i need to upload and i’m looking to work on a few other artsy-fartsy things that i can post.

and i think that’s about it for now. huzzah and have a lovely rest of your weekend!

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
