a return to normalcy…

and planning!

wow, a regular ol’ blog entry. crazy!

so i’ve got to spruce this place up a bit, change the decor until the real deal gets up and running. i’m thinking batman, but should i do old school or modern? decisions, decisions.

i’ve been in cleaning mode, sorta anyway, since the end of nano. my bedroom is spiffy, though my studio is still a bit of a mess. i did spend a lot of time cleaning up my hard drive last night. it’s drudgery, but of the good kind as every time i do it i find all kinds of weird shit i’ve downloaded over the last couple of months. also find all the old weird shit i’ve forgotten i have and do manage to purge a few things here and there as well.

doing that also always makes me look at my backup system. the thing i’m most paranoid about losing is my photos. i’m still considering a pro flickr account as it’s pretty cheap ($25) and will actually let me upload everything i have in full resolution. it also has the bonus of making it easy to order prints and make custom stamps (how cool!) and do photobooks. in other words, all the fun things that iphoto does on the Mac. i need to make the effort to take more pictures as i do love my camera.

planning for next year is beginning to gain momentum in my mind. i’ve a couple layout things to work on, figuring out how to keep developing my art and writing and that old crusades research bug is back in my head again. i’m getting very excited about all of this stuff and feel like i have a huge weight off my shoulders right now. work is also going into the slow season, so i’m hoping i’ll be able to capitalize on that as well.

my hands are still pretty tired from all of my typing last week, so i’ll keep this a bit shorter than i intended.

oracle out.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
