i’m over 41k now.
my plan is to hit 50k on sunday, if not sooner.
then i shall stop and verify.
my story has devolved into rampant monty-pythonesque silliness and nonsense. i’m just going for the wordcount here. i’ll sort the story in march. although, i have to admit that the silliness has gotten fun to write. so fun, in fact, that i’m actually willing to share a little excerpt:
“You shall do non such thing.” Marie changed from wolf to woman in a split second, a blink of the eye. “You’ll harm no oether, Nymus the Small.”
“Who told you that name?” Nymus’s eyes would have shot flame if it had been the old days, but many centuries on earth left him with little more than a few sparks. “Who have you been speaking to, none know that name!”
Marie crossed her arms over her chest. “Well, wouldn’t you like to know?”
“Yes, I would very much like to know.”
“Well, I’m not telling, you’ll just have to guess.”
Jack sensed a disturbance amongst the zombie wolves outside. A shiver of power ran through them, and a few of them parted to make way for the being that was passing among them. Howls went up, choruses and choruses of howls as the being came closer to the house. The zombie wolves, some of them partially transformed between the wolf and the man, groaned and growled and howled on the porch. Jack could see them swaying and felt them growing more and more agitated as the being came closer.
Soon enough, there was a knock on the door.
“Enter.” Cobb called out and he and Marie shared a small smile. Jack caught it out of the corner of his eye and wondered what the two of tehm were in cahoots about.
“Heirnoymus the Small!” A commanding female voice echoed through the house, rattling the timbers of the structure.
Nymus turned toward the door. His face had grown pale and he looked unsure of himself all of a sudden. Darla and Ken looked around as if there were coming out of a trance. The looked down at Sara and Darla gasped and started crying over her body.
Just then the door burst open, cracked at the hinges and flattening down onto the carpet, splinters of wood flying in all directions. This was accompanied by the loud, cracking sound of wood and metal exploding and large puffs of smoke.
A tall, imposing and beautiful woman stepped through the doorway. She was dressed in combat gear, fatigues and boots and a smart Kevlar vest over the whole. On her head was a helmet and she looked as if she had just emerged from a war zone.
“Hello there, Cobb.” She called out, her voice cheerful for a moment and he smiled and waved back at her. “Thanks for letting me know about this one. We’ve been looking for him for centuries now. Had a rough time of it hunting him down.”
“I thought you might like to finish your collection. And he’s quite worn out his welcome around here, that’s for sure.”
With a nod of her head, the woman pulled a wand out of her sleeve.
“Nymus the Small, I command you to heed my words.”
