as the countdown to nano continues, i get more excited and more scared. i know it sounds silly, because i don’t really doubt that i’ve got enough story to get this thing done on time, but i feel a bit like i’m stepping into the unknown. it’s the good kind of scared, i suppose.
the main sources of the fear are a) i won’t have enough to write and b) that i’m too underprepared.
this story could, in theory, go very quickly. and i’ve not done enough research or worldbuilding (yes, even though it’s set in NYC, there’s worldbuilding to be done). i guess the only thing i can do is sit down at 12:01 on wednesday night/thursday morning and start typing.
speaking of typing, the typewriter love continues. the ribbon seems to work kinda okay, but i’m going to be attempting to revive the ink a bit today.
i’ve also got to do some cooking and get bits of costume together for wednesday’s work halloween thingy. decided not to go as Super Geek because i think not enough people would get the joke. too much internet insider humor. so instead i’m going as a funky witch. got a purple-striped hat i’ve had forever, a purple top and a black, broomstick skirt. wish i had some striped tights as well, but i was too lazy and cheap to go buy some. i’ll be wearing my fake all-stars and have some kind of wand thingy as well. it’ll just have to be good enough.
oh, and the website has a much firmer direction now. work will start on it soon. the coding part is going to take forever as i first have to dissect someone else’s website i’m using for inspiration. i had originally thought to have sub-sites for other projects and my zines and such, but after a long and productive discussion with my favorite fellow artist yesterday, i’ve decided it’s all going under one umbrella. doesn’t mean it all has to look the same, of course, though it probably will. anyway, that’s enough blather about that. don’t want to bore you all with the details.
did i mention yet that the weather here is positively gorgeous? mid-50s, sunny and breezy. fall is really here right now and i love it. i’m going to go clean my car out, just so i can be out in it for a while. i did walk this morning and we’ve got all the windows flung wide open, but it’s not quite enough.
oh, and last but not least, i managed to lose 1/2 pound this week. didn’t change my diet any, i just walked everyday. hopefully i can keep up a similar rate and i’m sure before i know it i’ll be down to my goal. of course there are a few things i could probably do, diet-wise, that would speed the process a little bit, but damnit i’m just not ready to give up my thursday-sucks-at-work chocolate. :P
