the second book in my crusades research project. volume 1 was finished over the course of many months. volume 2 is shaping up much the same. it’s not lack of interest in the subject and the writing in here is not as dry as one would think. it may be that the information presented is just so dense that my brain has trouble sticking with it. i place the blame totally on myself, as sir runciman is obviously quite enthusiastic about the subject. his ‘court gossip’ background shows throughout the narrative as sly, little, catty comments sneak out here and there. when i finish volume three i’ve got to find some way to celebrate.
