neuromancer - william gibson

neuromancerneuromancer is the first book in my ’sci-fi classics’ project. it will be followed by titles such as ‘left hand of darkness,’ ‘the sparrow,’ ‘dune’, etc.
i’m very much enjoying the book so far. i had heard that ‘the matrix’ owes almost everything to this book and i can now attest to that fact. while being completely focused on the future and tech, gibson’s managed to give the entire book a very ‘pulpy’ feel. it’s like reading a noir detective novel only with computers. cool stuff.
and yes, it is one of the most unique books i’ve ever read.

started: late may
finished: july 4th

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
