been futzing with a little ‘book flap’ synopsis of my story. just trying to distill it down so i have a solid foundation to build from. the idea is that when i hit a point where i feel a bit lost, i’ll come back to this blurb and be able to ask myself if i’m […]
would you read this book?
rambling thoughts…
the christmas movie extravaganza will be continuing this evening. the other night we watched ‘emmet otter’s jugband christmas’ to start things off. tonight’s viewing will be ‘it’s a wonderful life’. many more on tap as well as all the fun rankin/bass christmas specials which i still have to dig out the tapes for.
this morning i […]

a good weekend overall. i simultaneously felt like i got nothing accomplished while actually doing quite a lot more than i usually do on a weekend.
besides sorting out my plan for getting up to speed with the web stuff and how i’m going to […]

see, my most recent website has been perfectly fine and i would have stuck with it for a long time to come. unfortunately it got ripped out from under me and as with many major changes in life, […]

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
what can i say about this book? it's a lovely memoir of julia child's arrival in paris, her journey learning the language and discovering her life's passion in cooking.
the whole story is special to me, having grown up watching her show on television. mrs. child taught me a great many things about cooking (including the fact that mistakes are okay) and her warm, engaging style comes through in the text. i could hear her warbly voice in my head the entire time i was reading.
