this weekend:
dissected about 30 pages of the novel. huzzah. i’m now over halfway done with this portion of the project. still have to get it all transrcribed, but the important parts are happening without too much hair-pulling.
went to the cloisters. *sigh* i love the chapter house. it’s my favorite room in the whole place. said hi to my knight. and the treasury was open for the first time since we started visiting. there’s stuff from my favorite era there, illuminated manuscripts and a few dyptychs and the like. lovely. i think i’ll move in.
watched ‘it’s a wonderful life’ last night. wonderful movie, though i admit it is a rough watch for every year. between this and ‘philadelphia story’ i have to admit that James Stewart really grabs me as an actor. dunno why i hadn’t noticed it before, but he’s got a powerful presence on screen.
i’m in quite a homebody mood lately. i wonder if it’s just the winter thing settling in or what, but my tolerance for working a day job is pretty low at the moment. i’d much rather be visiting museums and writing and cooking and such. oh well, such is life.
ooh, and most important of all? i’ve got the layout for my website revamp about done. i’m going to let it marinate for a couple of days and then come back and see if i still like it. i have no idea how i’mg going to code this thing, but having the visual part done is a relief. i pushed quite hard this weekend to get it out there. i thank Brian Eno and his ‘oblique strategies’ for the inspiration that broke the design out of the structured box i had put it into.
