is it me, or is all of this a case of too little, too late?
just take a gander, the technophiles among you will not be greatly impressed.

i know microsoft is trying to give the impression that it’s being all helpful and stuff, but i already have a huge chunk of the stuff on that site. yeah, it’s in different places, but unless they’re planning on getting all of it jammed onto a single page, i’ve no use for most of it. the only exception, for me, seems to be the web mail. i use hotmail and there have been quite a few things about it that bugged me over the years. (years?!? egads!) this new version seems to fix most of them. i’ll be giving that a shot and keeping an eye on the other stuff.

those of you that know me well know that i have a love/hate relationship with microsoft, apple and new tech in general. the possibilities excite me, the difficulties drive me up a wall. i’m always willing to give the big companies another shot and often try to look at things from a new angle, mainly because i’m interested in the stuff actually working. if it does what i want it to do and doesn’t fuck up my computer further, it matters little to me who wrote the code. of course price is always a factor and that combined with the more rapid timetable for innovation leads me to lean toward the open source community more often than not.

so we shall see what parts of this new face to windows that i take for my own, and which parts i abandon for the drek that it is.
