it’s said that it becomes harder to learn new things the older we get.
well, i’m not that old yet, dammit!
i do seem to have a lot of trouble lately learning new things. well, on second thought, if it is arts & crafts oriented, i have no problems. i have a membership with lynda.com though, where i am supposed to be learning new technology stuff. i just can’t seem to get it going! not that i have trouble starting the program itself, but that i can’t stay focused on it for more than a minute. what the hell happened to my computer geek chops? a year ago, i was all about technology, now i find myself more and more drawn to tangible art and have barely touched my home computer in months. i’m on the machine at work all day, as evidenced by my presence here. that time though is spent actually working or fucking around on the net looking at other peoples craft sites.
so i’m in a bit of an interesting position. perhaps the best way to solve it is to just dive in and work. with my back being how it is, the computer is a bit easier to deal with than leaning over a sewing project right now. eh, it all really comes down to time and commitment doesn’t it? all that really needs to happen is for me to decide that it’s what i really want to do, then start doing it. wish me luck.

sometimes i lay in bed before getting up and dream up the ultimate computer network for our house. it involves a computer-run media center, many redundant terabytes backup drives and a big networked laser printer.
